The selection process generally involves two main stages:
Stage 1:
  • Written Test (or GATE Score-based shortlisting):
  • Written Test: For some advertisements (e.g., Advt No. ISRO:ICRB:03(CEPO):2025), a written test is conducted.
  • Format: Objective-type (MCQs).
  • Sections: Typically two parts:
  • Part A: Discipline/Subject Specific (80 questions, 80 marks, -1/3 negative marking).
  • Part B: Aptitude/Ability Test (15 questions, 20 marks, no negative marking).
  • Duration: 120 minutes.
  • Qualifying Marks: Generally, UR candidates need 50% in both parts, while reserved categories need 40%.
  • Test Centers: Major cities across India (e.g., Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi, Thiruvananthapuram).
  • GATE Score-based Shortlisting: For other advertisements (e.g., Advt. No. ISRO:ICRB:01:(EMC):2025), shortlisting for the interview is based on valid GATE scores (GATE 2024 or GATE 2025). The GATE paper code must align with the applied engineering discipline.

Stage 2: Interview:
  • Candidates are shortlisted for the interview based on their performance in the written test (or GATE score) in a ratio of 1:5 (minimum 10 candidates).
  • The interview assesses:
  • Technical (Academic) Knowledge (40 marks)
  • General Awareness related to the area of specialization (Technical) (20 marks)
  • Presentation/Communication Skill (20 marks)
  • Comprehension (10 marks)
  • Academic Achievements (10 marks)
  • Total Interview Marks: 100.
  • Qualifying Marks in Interview: UR candidates need 50/100, Reserved candidates need 40/100.
Final Selection: The final merit list is prepared by giving 50% weightage to Written Test marks (or GATE score as applicable for shortlisting) and 50% weightage to Interview marks. Tie-breaking criteria are applied in case of ties in final marks (higher written test marks, higher essential qualification marks, older age).
